This paper compares mortality rates of Turkish residents in Germany with Germans and with adult population in Ankara in Turkey. The study aims to test wether a minority with lower socio-economic status, Turkish residents, in Germany might experience a higher mortality than Germans.

In this paper a name-based algorithm for health research for Turkish migrants in Germany is developed. The algorithm may provide a tool to retrieve cases of Turkish descent from German registries for identifying and monitoring health inequalities.
